Nebraska Homeschool Associations
One of the best resources for homeschooling families is a statewide association. Thankfully, homeschoolers in the Cornhusker State have two great options: The Nebraska Christian Home Educators Association (NCHEA) and Nebraska Homeschool–The Home Educators Network, Inc. (NH-HEN). While the primary functions of a state homeschool association is to guide you on your homeschooling journey, monitor and report on current homeschooling legislation, there are also a myriad of other great benefits. Read on to discover the ways in which membership in a Nebraska homeschool association can benefit your family.
The Nebraska Christian Home Educators Association (NCHEA)
NCHEA has been helping Christian families for over 30 years in their homeschooling journey. The NCHEA hosts an annual conference and curriculum fair which includes a kids conference, a teen conference, and graduate recognition ceremony. They also provide testing by the NE Dyslexia Assoc. and bonus door prizes. Learn more about this association by visiting their website.
Nebraska Homeschool–The Home Educators Network, Inc.(NH-HEN)
The NH-HEN was created “to encourage and support homeschool families through mentoring, collaboration, and resource networking.”
The NH-HEN sponsors an annual conference and expo which includes a used curriculum and book sale, hosts a spelling bee, and partners with the Rose Theater to help you add family-friendly films to your homeschooling program. Nebraska Homeschool also holds two Homeschool Picture Days each September and offers a discount for those who wish to purchase a Legacy Yearbook, participates in the Box Tops for Education fundraising program and donates a portion of the funds raised to the homeschooling community.
