South Dakota Homeschool Co-ops

Homeschool cooperatives, or co-ops are different from homeschool support groups. Co-ops are where a group of homeschooling parents get together to share in the education of their children as a cooperative whole. Usually parents are required to participate if their child participates. Homeschool co-ops in South Dakota, like the Black Hills Co-op meets every Thursday morning each fall. They are a christian focused cooperative that collaborates with one another to achieve common goals and provide activities and supplemental learning classes that enrich their homeschooling journey. In this co-op parents are required to serve at least two periods in one of the following areas: lead teacher, co-teacher, teacher’s assistant, nursery, or floater. The People’s CommUnity Home-School Co-Op is another homeschool group in South Dakota that welcomes homeschool families looking to share ideas on learning styles, curriculums, and all things homeschool.
